Choose global or project MCP settings

Roo Code provides global and project MCP configuration. Use global settings for a private Hombee installation unless the project intentionally documents the server for every contributor. Each person completes authorization with their own Hombee account.

Add Hombee Home MCP

  1. Open Roo Code settings and select MCP Servers.
  2. Edit the global or project MCP configuration.
  3. Add a server named Hombee Home MCP with the streamable-http transport.
  4. Set its URL to the public Home MCP address ending in /mcp.
  5. Save and enable the server.
  6. Complete the browser authorization flow if Roo Code requests it.
  7. Verify the connection and discovered tool list in the MCP server panel.

Do not include Hombee cookies or session tokens in project configuration. If your Roo Code build cannot authorize this remote server, update the extension or choose a client with verified OAuth support rather than adding unmanaged credentials.

Verify Home Assistant in Roo Code

Ask in a new task:

Read rooms and available Home Assistant capabilities through Hombee Home MCP. Do not change the installation.

Check the tool approval card before execution. Keep approval required for state-changing, security and external operations, even if Roo Code offers a broader automatic-approval mode.

Roo Code troubleshooting

  • If the configuration loads but the server is disabled, enable it in the MCP server panel and start a new task.
  • If a project server shadows the global one, remove the duplicate or give the installations unambiguous names.
  • If OAuth cannot complete, do not paste a browser credential into headers.
  • If only some tools are available, check Hombee account, installation modules and tool safety annotations.
