FAQ

Basics of Operation and Benefits

What is an energy storage system for and why is it worth having?

An energy storage system is a home "power bank" that stores the surplus electricity produced by your photovoltaics. Instead of sending cheap energy to the grid, you store it and use it when you need it - in the evening or on cloudy days. This gives you independence, security, and real savings.

What is "smart energy management"?

It's more than just storage. The system can automatically analyze electricity prices on the grid. It decides for itself when to charge the battery (when electricity is cheapest) and when to use it (when electricity is expensive). It is an active system that works intelligently to minimize your bills.

How does an energy storage system help with charging an electric car?

The system allows you to charge your car with 100% free energy, stored during the day from the sun. You can schedule charging for the night hours, using your own, cheap electricity, instead of paying for energy at public stations or drawing it from the grid during peak hours.

Safety and Technology

Are energy storage systems safe? What technology are they made of?

Yes, safety is a priority. We use only the safest and most durable LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) technology on the market. These batteries are exceptionally thermally stable, not at risk of overheating, have a very long service life (over 6000 cycles), and are more environmentally friendly.

How does the emergency power supply function work in the event of a power outage?

In the event of a power outage, Hombee Storage automatically and in less than 20 milliseconds takes over the power supply of the house. The switch is so fast that it is completely unnoticeable to the household members and devices. It maintains the operation of key circuits - from the refrigerator and heating to the internet and lighting.

Can the system operate in "off-grid" mode?

Yes, the system is technically prepared to work in off-grid mode and works great in this role in the summer. However, it should be remembered that in the Polish climate in winter, full independence would require connecting an additional power source (e.g., a biofuel generator). Therefore, we recommend the off-grid mode mainly for small, seasonal summer houses.

Installation and Compatibility

Where is the energy storage system most often installed?

The system can be installed inside the building (e.g., in the garage). In the case of outdoor installation, it is placed in a dedicated, insulated rack cabinet with built-in heating, which guarantees optimal battery operating conditions throughout the year, even during frosts.

Can I expand the storage capacity in the future?

Yes, the system is fully scalable. Thanks to the use of a dedicated rack cabinet, adding another battery module is an operation that literally takes a few minutes. However, it is worth emphasizing that the capacity of the storage is best selected optimally at the start, usually matching it to the connection power of the house.

Does Hombee Storage work with photovoltaic systems from other companies?

Yes, it is possible, but in the case of an existing photovoltaic installation from another company, its integration requires the use of an additional, dedicated inverter. We achieve full, systemic compatibility and optimization of operation by combining the storage with our Hombee Roof solar roof.

Costs and Operation

What is the cost of purchasing an energy storage system?

The cost of a basic battery module with a capacity of 5.12 kWh is currently approx. PLN 8,000 - 9,000 net. The final price of the entire installation depends on the selected capacity (number of modules) and the necessary equipment, such as an inverter or a rack cabinet.

What is the expected return on investment period?

The payback period depends on the individual energy consumption profile, the size of the PV installation, and electricity prices. Under current market conditions and with smart energy management, the estimated payback period is from 7 to 10 years, and the system's service life is over 15 years.

Can I get a subsidy for the purchase of an energy storage system?

Yes, the purchase of an energy storage system is supported by government programs, such as "My Electricity" or "Clean Air", which offer significant subsidies. We help our clients go through all the formalities related to obtaining funding.

Service and Warranty

What is the warranty on the Hombee Storage energy storage system?

The device is covered by a long, 10-year manufacturer's warranty. The warranty covers the maintenance of a specific battery capacity throughout this period, which gives you certainty and peace of mind for years.

What is the battery life and what do "charge cycles" mean?

The service life of LiFePO4 batteries is very long and is specified at over 6000 full charge and discharge cycles. For an average household, this means trouble-free operation for over 15 years before the battery capacity begins to naturally decline slightly.

Does the system require regular inspections or maintenance?

The Hombee Storage system is designed as a completely maintenance-free device. It does not require regular inspections or any maintenance activities on the part of the user. The system software is updated remotely, which ensures its optimal operation at all times.
